BlueFish SEO… Why the name BlueFish? I’ve been a fisherman most of my life. As a young boy, I have fond memories of adventurous fishing excursions in a nearby pond in Holladay, Utah. The pond was filled with bluegill that readily took our bait (often kernels of canned corn from Mom’s cupboard). Without equipment, we’d use sticks as fishing rods and raid dad’s tackle box for line and hooks.

As a kid, I’d bait my hook and cast out in hopes of catching something. But, as time wore on, I became much more active in my fishing techniques. As a youth, I gave up bobber fishing and picked up spin fishing to keep active. In the last while I’ve learned some fly fishing, and I love the feel of my Orvis 4 wt. and the sound of my fly reel when powerful fish peel off my line.

Believe it or not, search engine optimization (SEO) is a lot like fishing. But you don’t get to the top of the search engines with a bobber mentality. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with bobber fishing. But casting your website out, as one among billions, in hopes it will be seen is not a sensible approach. Sadly, too many businesses do just that.

Climbing the SERPs is a process. It takes several techniques and numerous approaches to succeed. It requires hard work and often a fisherman’s patience to succeed. But you may need an experienced guide to catch the trophy you’re after.
